Majalis

Character
Majalis opens like a royal reception hall where someone has knocked over a centerpiece of incense-dusted fruit and dark chocolate. The strawberry and raspberry are not jammy or candied, they are dry, almost leathery, tangled with pink pepper and a whisper of cacao that never lets the sweetness run away. The coffee note reads more as bitter grounds than a latte, a clever counterweight to the peach and osmanthus. In the heart, dates and saffron warm into a slightly dusty, powdery floral blend, with guaiac wood lending a faintly smoky backbone. The dry down is a slow collapse into tobacco, honeyed labdanum, and a scratchy, animalic oud that feels more like antique wood paneling than barnyard.
The overall character is a Mughal miniature painted in dark amber and bronze, heavy but not cloying, with a glossy finish that leans synthetic in the top notes but resolves into a rich, natural-feeling balsamic base. Given the strong winter preference (100%) and fall bias (93%), this is clearly a cold-weather scent. The sillage sits close to the chest after an hour, which is a genuine weakness for something so opulent, you want it to announce itself but it settles into a soft hum. Longevity is excellent, easily eight hours on skin. This suits someone who likes their sweetness cut with spice and smoke, a confident dresser who enjoys orientals but finds Amouage too austere. Skip it if you prefer airy freshness or can't tolerate a fruit-laden opening that borders on gourmand. Wear it to an evening dinner in November or a winter gallery opening, where its quiet richness can bloom in the chill.
