Police Dark Women opens with a tart, jammy black currant that cuts straight through a soft violet haze, a brief citrus flicker from mandarin and bergamot giving it an almost sparkling entrance. Then the florals arrive — iris’s cool, lipsticky powder, gardenia’s creamy heft, rose and jasmine weaving in with a sweet, heady hum. It feels like stepping into a dimly lit dressing room where a silk scarf has been left on a vanity for hours, absorbing perfume, powder, and the faint warmth of a lightbulb. The base brings vanilla and resin, sandalwood and cedar, but this isn’t a deep, dark Oriental. It’s powdery and balsamic, more cloud than cloak, with a noticeably soft sillage that hovers close.
It sits in the sweet spot between mainstream and niche — polished enough for the mall, but with that iris-and-violet powderiness that suggests a dab hand at vintage-inspired composition.
