The New Rouge by Fine'ry opens with a bright, syrupy burst of cherry that feels almost candied, like the first bite of a glazed maraschino from a cocktail glass. That sweetness quickly gets wrapped in a warm, peppery clove and a whisper of saffron, turning the fruit into something darker, more deliberate. By the dry down, it settles into a soft, powdery vanilla and rose blend, with a hint of amber that keeps things from going too flat. The overall character is like a velvet choker on a thrift store dress: there is intention, a touch of drama, but the fabric is thin and the clasp loosens too fast.
It feels mainstream in approach but leans into a synthetic gloss that can feel a bit bargain bin if you press your nose too close. For the price, that is fine.
