Our take

The New Rouge by Fine'ry opens with a bright, syrupy burst of cherry that feels almost candied, like the first bite of a glazed maraschino from a cocktail glass. That sweetness quickly gets wrapped in a warm, peppery clove and a whisper of saffron, turning the fruit into something darker, more deliberate. By the dry down, it settles into a soft, powdery vanilla and rose blend, with a hint of amber that keeps things from going too flat. The overall character is like a velvet choker on a thrift store dress: there is intention, a touch of drama, but the fabric is thin and the clasp loosens too fast.

It feels mainstream in approach but leans into a synthetic gloss that can feel a bit bargain bin if you press your nose too close. For the price, that is fine. The real weakness is the longevity and sillage: this is a two hour affair before it becomes a skin scent, and even then you have to huff your wrist to get much. That rating of 2.96 for longevity and 2.58 for sillage is not harsh, it is honest.

Who should wear it? Someone who wants a flirtatious, spicy red scent for a night out that does not need to last past the appetizers. Skip it if you need a fragrance to carry you through a workday or if you prefer natural, complex blends. Best in fall and winter, when the cool air lets that cherry and spice curl around you like a wool scarf. Day or night works, but it really shines under dim lights with a drink in hand. Can a bottle that costs as much as a decent lipstick deliver a full evening of intrigue? Maybe not, but for the first hour, it lies beautifully.
