Bois Velours opens with a crisp, aromatic lift built around star anise, cinnamon, and cloves. The jasmine in the top layer is present but restrained, adding a soft floral touch that rounds the edges of the spices without pulling the fragrance into bright territory. As the initial heat settles, cedar and patchouli take over with a dry, earthy texture, while vetiver adds a clean, slightly bitter green thread that keeps the blend from feeling heavy. The transition feels smooth rather than dramatic, moving from a kitchen-spice brightness into a woodier, more grounded space where the aromatic top notes still echo in the background.
The base brings vanilla, tonka bean, amber, and styrax together into a warm, powdery finish that leans sweet but stays anchored by the resinous depth of styrax and the dry wood already in place. The vanilla here is rich and slightly smoky, pairing closely with amber to create a rounded, golden tone that carries through the later stages. Cinnamon and anis accords remain noticeable, weaving through the woods and the powdery sweetness so the opening never fully disappears.
