You have to admire the nerve of a perfume that throws peony, lime, and cinnamon into the same blender and expects coherence. Her by French Connection UK opens with a spritz of fresh citrus and a sharp, almost dewy green violet that feels like the first snap of a stalk. The peony and lily-of-the-valley rush in next, all soapy white petals and a slight metallic crispness, before the warmth of sandalwood and patchouli nudges the whole thing toward a powdery, woody base. The cinnamon stays just under the surface, a faint prickly heat that keeps the florals from turning into an utter bridal-shower cliché. Geza Schoen, the nose here, clearly aimed for an accessible oriental floral that works for a daytime wardrobe, and in that he mostly succeeds.
The overall character is a pressed flower forgotten in a spring jacket pocket revived by a splash of lime seltzer it feels clean, cheerful, and undeniably mainstream. The longevity and sillage are the problem: this is a three-hour whisper at best, a scent that evaporates before you have finished your coffee. You will need to reapply, and reapply again. That rating of 3.46 makes sense, because what is here is pleasant but frustratingly fleeting.
This is for someone who wants an easy, bright floral for brunch dates or a desk job, someone who values a pretty, inoffensive aura over performance. Skip it if you crave depth, lasting power, or any kind of daring edge. Wear it on a mild spring afternoon when you want to smell like the fresh section of a drugstore without spending drugstore money. It is a pleasant, forgettable fling, not a relationship.
