The late afternoon sun hits the stone terrace of an old villa, and the air carries the sharp bite of cracked cardamom pods and a dusting of coarse pepper. Someone crushes a handful of galbanum stalks nearby, releasing a green, resinous sap that cuts through the dry heat. As the moment settles, the herbal heart rises from a linen shirt. Clary sage and lavender weave together, softened by the clean, metallic edge of geranium. The aromatic cloud feels grounded and masculine, evoking a manicured garden where wild herbs grow against ancient walls. It is a scent of earth and sunlight, where the warm spicy and soft spicy accords mingle with the amber and mossy facets that drift from the shaded interior of the house.
Beneath the terrace, the foundation reveals itself as the shadows lengthen. Incense curls upward, joining the damp, earthy presence of oakmoss and the creamy depth of sandalwood.
