Our take

The Garden of Last Days opens with shiso and clary sage, two herbs that feel cool and slightly dusty at once. The shiso carries a leafy, almost metallic edge, while the clary sage adds a dry, hay-like softness that keeps the start from feeling sharp. As the fragrance moves forward, carrot and bergamot take over. The carrot note is earthy and gently sweet, more root than vegetable, and the bergamot brightens it with a clean citrus lift that never turns sour. Together they create a heart that is aromatic and faintly powdery, sitting between green and spicy without leaning fully into either direction. Lavender appears here too, bridging the heart and the base with its familiar, slightly soapy floral character.

The base rests on sandalwood and resins, giving the composition a warm, balsamic foundation that feels smooth rather than heavy. The sandalwood is creamy and quiet, while the resins add a soft amber glow that lingers in the background. Throughout, the fragrance stays close to the skin and maintains a consistent aromatic profile from start to finish. The carrot and bergamot can feel a bit thin, lacking the depth that would make the transition into the woody base feel seamless. The lavender also reads a little synthetic, which distracts from the natural quality of the herbs and woods.
