Our take

First impressions lean sharp and green, basil and Timur pepper cutting through what is otherwise a dense wood accord from the very first spray. Akigalawood and other woodsy notes sit at the center, dry and slightly bitter without ever being sweet, closer to raw timber than a polished sandalwood cabinet.

Vetiver and patchouli add earthy depth, while ambroxan brings a clean, faintly synthetic lift on top of all that earth. Quentin Bisch built something here that skips sweetness almost entirely, all texture and dry green wood rather than warmth or amber comfort, more raw material than finished perfume in places.

It camps out on the skin, and people catch it before you say a word once it's out. Spring and fall are where the green, peppery top makes the most sense, and daytime wear suits it better than a night out given how sharp and unsweet it stays across the wear.

Anyone who wants wood without vanilla or amber pulling it toward something cozier will find this exactly right; anyone hoping for a softer, warmer take on woody fragrances should look elsewhere entirely.
