Our take

You want a scent that smells like a woodworking shed after a long Saturday. Underhill opens with tobacco and cedar, dry and dusty, then settles into a heart of wheat and leather, with a trace of cumin that keeps it grounded. The base carries a dark, sticky pine tar and a hint of beer that reads more like a well-kept basement than a brewery. It is sweet in a resinous way, nutty and smoky, with a whiskey-like warmth that never turns to syrup. There is an animalic edge, too, the kind that makes it feel lived-in rather than polished.

It feels rugged and unapologetic, more at home in a flannel than a suit, and it leans into its imperfections. The materials smell natural, not laboratory-clean, and the whole thing comes across as a bit of a misfit. That is the point. It does not try to be safe or widely liked.

It fits gray skies and cold air, a workshop with the door open, a heavy sweater pulled down over your hands, a walk through wet leaves when the light is flat and the air bites. It matches that mood exactly.

It is for the person who wants to smell like a place, not a product, and who is fine with a little grit in the glass.
