Île de Cristal
Fragrance notes
Character
Île de Cristal can feel crowded when all its elements arrive at once. The black pepper bites sharply against the violet leaf, and the sea foam note carries a synthetic edge that some will find distracting. Immortelle adds a dry, hay-like warmth that does not always sit comfortably next to the chilled marine accords. The ink and oud in the base introduce a dark, resinous weight that occasionally clashes with the brighter aquatic opening. It is a complex composition that demands patience, as the individual pieces do not always blend into a seamless whole right away.
Sunlight hits the water and the coral reef note surfaces, mineral and bright against the salty seaweed. Ambergis and musk wrap the skin in a soft, animalic haze while cashmeran and gurjan balsam provide a smooth, woody foundation. The labdanum and patchouli ground the fragrance, giving the aquatic theme a resinous depth that feels substantial. It is a scent for a person who enjoys the ocean but wants the dry, aromatic heat of a rocky shore. Wear it when the sky is clear and the air is warm, letting the ozonic freshness mingle with the heat of the afternoon.
