Frapin built its name on cognac, and 1270 carries that pedigree into fragrance: pineapple, resin, dried plum, cacao, tonka bean, orange and coffee open the composition with a boozy, fruit-forward richness that smells closer to a barrel cellar than a florist. Coffee especially gives the top a bitter, roasted edge that cuts straight through the fruit's sweetness. Dried fruits, spices, hazelnut, lime blossom and assorted flowers carry the heart into nuttier, spicier ground, Sidonie Lancesseur clearly building toward the resinous base rather than lingering long in the middle.
