Dream by Lorien
Fragrance notes
Character
Dream by Lorien has a synthetic edge that shows up early and never fully disappears. The apple and pineapple open with a bright, candy-like sheen that feels manufactured rather than fresh, and the bergamot does little to soften that impression. Sandalwood enters immediately alongside the fruit, which gives the start a creamy weight that some will find muddled. It is a cheerful opening, but the artificial quality in the top notes sets a tone that the rest of the fragrance cannot completely shake.
The heart brings jasmine and patchouli into that mix, adding a white floral softness and an earthy depth that grounds the sweetness. Cardamom and Virginia cedar provide a warm spicy and green contrast, keeping the middle from becoming too heavy. The transition is smooth, though the fruity top notes remain present longer than expected, which can make the composition feel a bit crowded. The powdery accord becomes more noticeable here, lending a classic touch to the modern fruit.
The base settles into oakmoss, musk, leather, amber, and iris, creating a dry, woody finish that feels appropriate for warm weather. The leather and amber add a gentle richness, while the iris reinforces the powdery character. Despite the pleasant drydown, the initial synthetic fruit remains the defining trait of the experience. It is a sunny, outdoor companion with a manufactured opening that limits its appeal for those who prefer a natural smelling composition.
