Fragrance notes
The sun sits high over a stone courtyard where the air feels dry and bright. Someone lifts a hand to adjust a linen sleeve and the movement releases a spray of citrus that smells like peeled bergamot and blood orange resting on a wooden table. The fruit is sharp and cold against the warm air, and the peel leaves a clean oil on the fingers.
A breeze moves through the space and carries a single stem of damask rose that was placed in a clay pitcher near the wall. The flower sits in the middle of the scene now, its petals soft and slightly cool, adding a floral weight that pulls the bright opening toward the ground. The rose does not shout across the courtyard. It stays close to the person standing there, wrapped around the citrus that still lingers in the air.
The ground beneath the stone is covered in dry earth where patchouli grows in small clusters near the edge of the shade. That base note rises slowly as the day continues, woody and touched with fresh spicy and warm spicy accents that match the heat of the stone. The patchouli does not take over the moment. It anchors the rose and the citrus so the entire scene feels planted in one place, supported by a woody accord that holds everything together.
The light shifts slightly across the courtyard floor while the citrus, rose, and patchouli continue to occupy the same air around the person standing near the clay pitcher, the linen sleeve still creased from the earlier movement, the peel of the blood orange drying in the warmth.
