Black Oudh
Fragrance notes
Character
The door opens into a room lit low by brass lamps, their glow catching the edge of a carved wooden screen. A thin curl of smoke drifts near the ceiling, and the air carries a warm, resinous weight that settles on the skin like a second layer. Cinnamon and bergamot arrive first, the citrus bright against the spice, sharp enough to cut through the stillness without rushing the atmosphere that is already gathering.
Rose and oud begin to rise as the initial brightness fades. The flower here is not fresh or dewy. It feels dried, its petals crushed into a dark powder that clings to the oud's deep, resinous grain. The wood does not shout. It moves slowly through the air, lending the rose a grounded, almost architectural presence that changes the shape of the room around it.
Sandalwood and patchouli take their time entering. The sandalwood is creamy and smooth, filling the lower corners of the space with a soft, balsamic blanket. Patchouli adds an earthy, slightly bitter edge that keeps the wood from becoming too polished. Together they create a foundation that feels heavy and permanent, as if the floor itself has been soaked in this scent for years, the powdery accord drifting upward to meet the last traces of rose still hanging in the air.
The smoke from the lamp twists once more, carrying a final trace of cinnamon through the sandalwood haze while the patchouli deepens further into the shadows near the baseboard, the entire room now fully wrapped in this dense, floral wood
