Our take

It opens with a brisk Sicilian lemon and a slap of sage, green and herbaceous, before the heat arrives. Cinnamon and anise rush in fast, turning that citrus into something spiced and almost boozy, with tarragon adding a faint licorice-like bitterness that keeps it from tipping into pure gourmand territory. The drydown is where this fragrance earns its keep: tobacco softened by vanilla, cedar and cashmere wood wrapping around patchouli and amber to create a scent that feels like the inside of a well-worn leather jacket left in a sunlit library.

The whole thing conjures a specific image: a man in a tweed coat, leaning against a brick wall at dusk, one hand in his pocket, the other holding a cup of spiced tea. It is warm without being syrupy, woody but not dusty, and the sweetness is restrained enough to feel natural rather than cloying. The composition leans mainstream in its accessibility, but the anise and tarragon give it a subtle edge that avoids blandness.

Numbers wise, the longevity is decent for the price point, about five hours on skin, and the sillage sits close to the chest. This is not a beast, and that is fine. It is a fragrance for the man who values quiet confidence over loud announcements. Best in fall or winter, equally at home in an office or an evening out. Skip it if you crave projection that fills a room or if you prefer bone dry, unsweetened woods. For everyone else, this is an underrated workhorse with a surprising amount of personality.
