Alpha
Fragrance notes
Character
Alpha opens with incense and palo santo, supported by black pepper and violet leaf. The pepper adds a dry bite that keeps the smoke from feeling heavy, while the violet leaf brings a green, slightly cool edge to the resinous start. It feels direct and unpolished in the first minutes, with the spices sitting clearly on top of the wood.
The heart introduces leather, labdanum, cade oil, papyrus, and rose. The leather and cade oil push the smoke forward again, but the papyrus dries the texture and the rose stays quiet enough to act as a soft backdrop rather than a floral statement. Labdanum adds weight and a warm, amber-like depth that ties the sharper notes together.
Resins, ebony tree, and guaiac wood form the base. The resins and guaiac wood hold the scent close to the skin through a long wear, and the ebony tree adds a dark, dry wood tone that lingers. It suits a cold night walk or a dim room where the air is still, with the smoke and wood feeling natural in that kind of quiet.
The blend leans heavily on resinous smoke, and the leather can feel stiff rather than supple. There is little brightness or lift once the top notes fade, so the composition stays in one narrow register. That lack of movement is the real limitation here.
