Our take

You will smell the sage and cypriol before anything else, and that is where the trouble starts. They arrive sharp and slightly medicinal, a green bite that can feel abrasive if you expect a smooth introduction. This is not a fragrance that wraps you in comfort on the first spray. The vetiver and oakmoss lean dry and austere, pulling the composition away from sweetness and toward a stark, mineral earthiness.

Labdanum and opoponax provide a resinous weight, but the carrot seeds and white grapefruit keep the blend bright and angular rather than round. It reads as a woody and powdery study that refuses to soften its edges. The sandalwood adds a creamy depth, yet the overall impression stays balsamic and mossy, suited to someone who enjoys a scent that feels more like a landscape than a accessory. It is aromatic and musky, projecting a quiet confidence.

If you prefer your amber fragrances to be warm and inviting, this will feel too cold and distant. The sage dominates with a herbal sternness that never fully relaxes into the soft spicy accord. It is a specific taste, composed by Deric Metzger for those who want their scent to be an acquired one. The initial sharpness is a permanent feature, not a phase that passes.
