Chocolate Covered Cherries
Fragrance notes
Character
Demeter’s Chocolate Covered Cherries hits the skin like a box of cherry cordials left too long on a warm radiator. The opening is a boozy punch of cognac that softens almost immediately into a syrupy, dark cherry, the kind that stains your fingers. The Mexican chocolate comes in dry and dusty, with a faintly gritty cacao edge instead of a creamy milk chocolate melt. It develops very little from there, a linear sweet gourmand that never quite deepens into the woody or nutty accords listed on the paper.
This is an unapologetically synthetic affair, but that’s part of its charm. It smells like a candy wrapper ripped open, a Halloween basket forgotten under a coat in late November. The longevity is abysmal, barely two hours before it fades to a faint, powdery cherry skin scent. Projection is skin close after the first twenty minutes. You are not making an entrance with this. You are snacking in the back row.
Best suited for someone who wants a cheap, nostalgic thrill on a cold December afternoon, a fragrance for curling into a blanket rather than walking into a room. Skip it if you need performance, complexity, or anything that doesn’t smell like a drugstore Valentine’s gift. Wear it to a holiday movie marathon or an evening of board games where no one will lean in to smell you. It is a fleeting pleasure, and it knows it. 🍒
