Our take

Rafia is for the person who wants oud without the polite dilution. Mauzan sends jasmine in first, bright and slightly indolic, but the flower never gets to play the lead. Oud enters fast and stays through every stage, heavy and resinous, with a metallic edge that keeps the air around it sharp. Saffron threads through the wood, adding a warm, leathery heat that pulls the composition toward tobacco without ever naming it.

This is not a gentle introduction to oriental scent. The materials feel dense and unapologetic, leaning far more toward smoke and skin than toward fresh air. It suits someone who already enjoys resinous woods and wants that profile pushed further. Those who prefer clean citrus or soft musks will find the density overwhelming and the spice too persistent. It works best in cool weather and evening settings where the warmth can settle into the air.

Robertet built a fragrance that smells like a blacksmith's leather apron left near a burning pile of saffron-stained timber.
