Saponificio Varesino built this release to mark a milestone, and the composition carries that weight with a dense, resinous core. The opening arrives with bright orange, lemon, grapefruit, and bergamot that feel polished rather than sharp. Those citrus notes give way to a heart where guaiac wood and patchouli take charge, supported by lavender and cashmere wood. The drydown is the real destination here. Myrrh and ambergris create a deep, balsamic warmth that settles close to the skin, while cedar adds a dry structure and vanilla rounds the edges without making the blend sugary. It smells like a wool coat in a room filled with old wood and soft resin. The mood fits a bright morning that still carries a chill, or a walk through streets where the air is cool but the sun is out. There is a clear, grounded masculinity to the way the earthy patchouli and amber accords linger together.
The blend is rich and cohesive, yet the synthetic edge of the cashmere wood sometimes interrupts the natural flow of the resins. The vanilla and myrrh want to melt into something seamless, but that manufactured wood note keeps the base from feeling entirely organic. For a fragrance that celebrates tradition, it leans a little too hard on a modern material that does not fully belong.
