Macadam
Fragrance notes
Character
Macadam opens with a wobble of honeyed peach and sweet orange that feels almost too syrupy for its own good, like a jam jar left open in a humid greenhouse. The heart erupts into a dense floral parliament: myrrh adds a smoky resinous anchor while white rose, peony, jasmine, magnolia, geranium, and lily of the valley jostle for attention with the grace of a crowded elevator. It’s Oriental Floral in the old sense, rich and unapologetically feminine, but the sheer number of blooms makes the composition feel less like a garden and more like a flower market after a sudden downpour, petals soaked and bruised, all competing for air. The base attempts to ground the chaos with sandalwood, patchouli, and coconut, yet the pitahaya adds a watery tropical twist that never quite integrates, leaving a slightly synthetic aftertaste. Longevity is a disappointing three hours at best, and sillage barely reaches arm’s length, which for a fragrance this complex feels like a party that ends before you’ve finished your first drink. This suits someone who wants a bright, feminine spring daytime scent for close encounters, but skip it if you need projection or staying power. Best worn on a mild fall afternoon when the warmth can coax out those fleeting floral nuances before they disappear.
