Il Eqko leans heavily on its vanilla and amber base, and that is where it runs into trouble. The sweetness here is thick and powdery, sitting close to the skin in a way that can feel a bit suffocating if the air is warm. The patchouli adds an earthy weight that clashes with the bright citrus opening instead of grounding it. Orange, lemon, bergamot, and grapefruit burst out at first, but they are quickly swallowed by the heavy foundation. In the heart, the melon and white florals try to keep things light, yet the musk and vanilla eventually take over completely. It is a disjointed experience where the fresh start and the heavy finish never quite agree to meet in the middle.
