Our take

Ambre Saba opens with a sharp, almost sacramental puff of olibanum, its cold resin quickly tangled in the tart squeak of red berries. That initial contrast is a clever trick, because black pepper and jasmine sambac soon elbow their way in, steering the scent toward something warmer but still restless. The jasmine here is not creamy, it is green and slightly indolic, and the pepper keeps it honest. As it settles, the base unfurls like a velvet pouch spilled open: ambergris delivers its salty, animalic shimmer, Madagascar vanilla adds a buttery sweetness, and dreamwood ties everything to a dry, almost smoky plank. The overall character is a gilded amber locket pressed against warm skin, its hinge creaking with pepper and jasmine. It feels rich but not cloying, natural enough to avoid that cheap candle vibe, though the red berries linger a bit too bright for my taste. At a 4.22 longevity and 3.87 sillage, it projects solidly for a few hours then sits close, which suits its temperament. This is a cold-weather scent through and through, made for autumn evenings and winter nights, especially when you want to feel wrapped in something both sacred and feral. Skip it if you shrivel at animalic notes or prefer transparent citruses. Wear it when you plan to stay in your own orbit, leaning into the dim light of a restaurant or a quiet bar. A carefully built Oriental vanilla that knows exactly when to whisper and when to purr.
