Nuit
Fragrance notes
Character
Bic Nuit opens with a bright, almost abrasive tangerine, like a citrus peel twisted too close to a candle flame. The ylang-ylang that follows is dense and honeyed, not the clean floral of a garden, but the cloying sweetness of a flower left to wilt in a warm room. Spices, presumably cumin and clove, creep in underneath, giving the whole thing a slightly sweaty, animalic warmth. It dries down to a woody, powdery base that sticks to the skin like the memory of a winter coat left in a closet all spring.
The overall effect is a velvet choker in a smoky discotheque circa 1988. This is unapologetically synthetic, a mainstream drugstore Oriental that wears its artificiality like armor. It feels heavy, sweet, and warm, with no pretense of natural simplicity. The longevity is solid, pushing past the eight-hour mark, and the sillage projects a comfortable bubble without shouting. It is a night scent through and through, thriving in deep winter, where its dense warmth becomes a cozy refuge. Summer is a no-go, unless you want to weaponize your presence. Wear it to a formal holiday party or a dimly lit dinner, not a brunch. Skip it if you prefer fresh air and transparency. Its charm is dated but honest, a small triumph of mass-market perfumery that knows exactly what it wants to be.
