Our take

Havana Noir opens with ginger and tobacco blossom that feel bright and slightly peppery. The ginger carries a clean heat that lifts the floral tobacco note, which stays airy rather than heavy. As the fragrance moves forward, cacao pod and tonka bean take over with a soft, rounded sweetness. The cacao smells like the inside of a pod, green and bitter near the edges, while the tonka bean adds a smooth, almond-like warmth. Vanilla and oud form the base, where the vanilla is creamy and the oud brings a dry, woody depth that keeps the sweeter notes from feeling flat. The overall impression is warm spicy and cacao-forward, with fresh and white floral touches that prevent the blend from becoming too dense.

The composition stays cohesive across its notes, but the fresh and white floral accords sit awkwardly against the dark cacao and oud. They create a slight disconnect in the middle, where the floral brightness clashes with the rich, earthy base instead of blending into it. The ginger and tobacco blossom suit the heavier heart and base well, yet the floral elements feel added rather than integrated. This makes the fragrance feel less unified than it could be, especially when the lighter facets meet the deeper vanilla and oud. The result is a scent that has strong individual pieces but does not always carry them together smoothly.
