Our take

The living room is dim, lit only by the amber glow of a single lamp and the flicker of a fire that has burned down to thick, dark coals. Someone has just set a copper mug on the coffee table. The air carries raspberry and tangerine, bright and tart, softened by the clean green bite of pistachio and the rounded floral weight of Damask rose. It smells like fruit that was sliced an hour ago and left on a wooden board, the juice drying into the grain.

Ginger warms the space, sharp and dry, followed by the deep, fermented sweetness of rum. Hazelnut and honey press in, rich and heavy, with vanilla smoothing the edges until the scent feels like a thick blanket draped over the room. There is a nutty, golden density here that makes the air feel closer, the kind of warmth that settles into the corners and makes the walls seem nearer than they are.

Cedar anchors the floor of the room, dry and structural, while benzoin and saffron add a resinous, slightly metallic heat. Violet floats above it, powdery and cool, a thin floral veil that keeps the heavier notes from feeling too dense. The room smells of wood, spice, and sugar all at once, each element distinct but pressed together by the stillness of the air and the low light that makes every object in the space look softer than it did earlier.
