Our take

Al Rayyan opens with a sharp citrus mix that can feel a little thin and synthetic if you examine it closely. The verbena, tangerine, and grapefruit come on bright and loud, but the edges are a bit harsh rather than smooth. This is the one place where the composition does not quite feel polished, and it is the reason some wearers will pause before reaching for the bottle again.

The heart quickly introduces coriander, geranium, cinnamon, and nutmeg. These spices give the fragrance a warm, herbal character that sits comfortably against the remaining citrus. As the scent develops, vetiver, tobacco, sandalwood, amber, and musk create a woody and slightly powdery base. The tobacco and cinnamon accords are prominent, making the overall impression aromatic, sweet, and firmly masculine.

It works well for a warm evening outdoors when the air still carries a bit of heat, or for a bright spring morning where the sunlight feels fresh. The blend feels substantial enough for a formal dinner but friendly enough for a casual gathering. That initial synthetic sharpness in the opening remains the only drawback, and it is the reason this fragrance will not suit anyone who prefers a completely natural and rounded citrus introduction.
