The transition into the heart moves through vetiver and cedar, where the scent turns drier and more structured. Pepper brings a clear, biting heat that sits comfortably alongside the wood. Benzoin in the base adds a resinous, faintly sweet warmth that rounds out the sharper spices without overwhelming them.
The overall impression is aromatic and woody with a steady spicy thread running through it. The citrus stays present longer than expected before giving way to the earthier notes, and the benzoin adds a soft amber quality that keeps the vetiver and cedar from feeling too dry. It suits cooler evenings when the air is crisp and the light is low, creating a mood that feels composed and deliberate. The pepper ensures it never becomes too smooth or too passive.
The limitation here is the narrow range of the palette. With only one base note, the drydown lacks progression once the benzoin settles, and the scent does not evolve much beyond its initial promise. The pepper can also feel a bit repetitive across the wear, offering heat without much change in shape or texture.
