This opens with a startling jolt of coffee, not the polite espresso of a perfume counter but the dark, gritty grounds at the bottom of the cup, cut through by a tart, jammy red berry. It feels almost confrontational for a moment, before the heart lets out a slow, vanilla-laced exhalation. The rose oil here is plush and cosmetic, not dewy, and the orchid adds a glossy, almost waxy floral sheen. As it settles, the base turns into something startlingly cozy: a warm glass of milk steeped with amber and sandalwood, dusted with a fine, powdery musk. The overall character is like a silk pillow warmed by a radiator, with a forgotten espresso cup and a single crushed rose petal left on the nightstand.
It is sweet, but the coffee keeps it from being cloying, and the lactonic note gives it a creamy, almost edible texture. This is a thoroughly mainstream take on an oriental floral, polished and commercial in the best sense, though the longevity is a letdown at 3.37 out of five. You get a lovely three or four hours of presence before it melts into a skin scent, and the sillage hovers at a modest whisper. For a fragrance this rich, you want it to last through a whole afternoon.
It feels best in the cooler months, fall and winter, and it works just as well for a brisk morning as it does for a cozy dinner. Wear this if you love warm, milky sweetness with a caffeinated edge and don’t mind reapplying. Skip it if you demand nuclear projection or if powdery florals make you feel like you are sneezing into a grandmother’s handbag.
