Our take

Caldo Gourmand opens with a blast of vanilla and caramel so thick you could spoon it, but the coconut and powdery musk quickly step in to keep it from cloying. The woody notes anchor the sweetness, turning what could be a one note sugar bomb into something that actually breathes. It develops like a warm, slightly burnt crème brûlée left to cool on a wooden counter where the scent of the spoon and the caramelized sugar mingle with the grain of the wood underneath. The drydown is a soft, balsamic vanilla musk that wears close to the skin, more intimate than loud.

This is a cuddle-in-a-jumpseat scent, perfect for a crisp autumn afternoon or a freezing winter morning when you need a pocket of heat. The sillage and longevity are modest, a 3.22 and 3.47 out of 5, which means it won’t announce you from across the room but it will hover pleasantly around your collar for a few hours. It feels more natural than synthetic, with a creamy, almost buttery texture that avoids the cloying syrup of mall gourmands. Maurizio Lembo’s composition leans feminine in its sweetness but the woody base makes it easy for anyone who loves warm, edible scents. Skip it if you crave massive projection or an airy, green freshness. Wear it to a coffee date, a library afternoon, or any day you want to feel enveloped in a soft, caramel lined sweater.
