Our take

My Choice opens with a soft collision. Damask rose and vanilla come in together, the rose fresh and slightly dewy, the vanilla warm and round. It feels inviting at first, almost like a comfort scent, until the heart notes arrive and pull the mood in a different direction. Peppermint cuts through the sweetness with a cool, crisp edge, and leather steps in beside it with a dry, slightly rugged texture. The transition is sharp rather than smooth, and the two halves of the fragrance do not always feel like they belong to the same composition.

The base settles into cinnamon and musk, giving the scent a powdery, animalic warmth that sits close to the skin. Cinnamon adds a steady spice that ties the earlier vanilla to the leather, while the musk brings a soft, slightly creamy finish. The green accord from the peppermint lingers longer than expected, keeping the fragrance from feeling too heavy. It is aromatic and warm spicy in equal measure, with a character that feels more suited to a niche shelf than a mass market counter.

The problem is how the notes are balanced. The peppermint and leather dominate so strongly that the rose and vanilla barely register after the first few minutes. What promises to be a floral gourmand in the opening ends up overwhelmed by cooler, rougher textures. The cinnamon and musk do their best to bridge the gap, but the contrast stays jarring. It is a fragrance with an interesting idea that loses its way in the execution.
