Ombre Éclatante opens with a raspberry note that leans a little too sweet, almost sticky, before the heavier elements arrive to pull it back. You are standing on a quiet cobblestone street after the sun has gone down, the air cool enough that you can see your breath. A leather jacket rests against your shoulders, still holding the warmth of the evening. The raspberry glistens on the surface of the scent, bright and slightly candied, but it soon gives way to a dense heart of oud and osmanthus. The leather accord feels worn and real, like the creased sleeves of that jacket, while the osmanthus adds a soft, apricot-like floral touch that prevents the smoke from becoming too severe. Labdanum and sandalwood anchor the scene, creating a golden, resinous warmth that mixes with the cool night air. The musk lingers in the background, adding a skin-like texture to the resin and wood. It is a fragrance that feels entirely at home in the shadow of old buildings and under a dark sky, where the amber and animalic tones can breathe without the harshness of direct sunlight. The composition settles into a deep, woody leather.
