That first blast is loud, almost cloying, but it quickly settles into a labdanum-and-amber heart that feels resinous and powdery, like an old incense box left to sweat in the sun. The ylang ylang adds a waxy floral note that keeps things from turning too dry, while patchouli grounds the sweetness without going dirty.
The drydown is where this fragrance finally earns its name. Honey, vanilla, and cashmere wood wrap the tobacco in a soft, musky glow, but that tobacco note is more like the memory of a cigar room, not the ashtray. It is sweet, dense, and undeniably synthetic in that Middle Eastern attar way, yet the sillage stays modest, around 3.3, and longevity limps past six hours.
