Our take

Shaft of Light arrives with a bright, almost aggressive citrus burst: lemon and grapefruit bite cleanly, bergamot adds a green shimmer, and orange blossom contributes a honeyed, slightly soapy edge. The opening is crisp and refreshing, but it doesn't last. Within minutes, the white floral heart floods in: lily of the valley, jasmine, magnolia, gardenia, and rose all pile on, creating a dense, creamy bouquet that feels more like a greenhouse after a rain than a single shaft of light. The dry down softens into a powdery, mossy base with sandalwood and patchouli, but the vanilla and amber sweeten it considerably, nudging it toward mainstream pleasantness.

This fragrance is a full, unabashed spring garden distilled into a bottle, but one that has already begun to wilt around the edges. The florals are natural enough to smell genuine, yet the sweetness feels a touch synthetic, like a high-end candle rather than a living thing. Its character is best summed up as a white linen shirt drying on a sunny clothesline, starch and pollen and faint citrus lingering. With a sillage rating of 2.12 and longevity under 3, this is a fleeting companion. It evaporates before you can truly appreciate the oakmoss foundation. Wear it on a warm morning when you want something pretty and uncomplicated, but skip it if you demand presence or endurance. Who is it for? The person who loves a fresh, floral chypre but isn't bothered that their scent will be a memory by lunch.
