Saffron and grapefruit make for a sharp, arresting start, with bergamot smoothing the edges just enough for the pink pepper to prick through. It is bright but not light, and the spices keep it from leaning fresh in any simple way. The heart pulls the composition into deeper, heavier territory. Oud and Bulgarian rose sit at the center, the rose soft and slightly powdery, the oud dry and resinous. Tobacco and opoponax add a thick, balsamic warmth, while patchouli and clary sage bring an herbal, slightly bitter counterweight that keeps the sweetness from becoming flat. Davana nudges the blend toward something fruity and faintly medicinal, giving the middle phase a layered, somewhat chaotic density that demands attention. The base settles into sandalwood and cedar, with musk and leather rounding out the drydown. Oud remains present, now more polished and close to the skin. The leather is subtle, not rugged, and the woods provide a steady, grounding finish. It feels most at home in cool air and dim light, when the weight of the resins and the heat of the spices feel appropriate rather than heavy-handed. The blend leans unisex but tilts slightly masculine in its final stages. It is not an easy wear, and it does not try to be. The tobacco lingers.
