Our take

Black Rose opens with a soft stumble. The peach and apricot arrive with a syrupy weight that feels slightly heavy for the first few minutes, almost as if the fruit was macerated in sugar before hitting the skin. It is a sweet, dense start that risks tipping the whole composition into candy before the florals have a chance to speak.

In a sunlit conservatory filled with clay pots and damp soil, the heart begins to steady the air. Rose and iris rise through the red berries, the iris lending a cool, fine powder that settles on the surface of the fruit. The berries add a tart edge, keeping the floral bouquet from becoming too lush. Oud and patchouli anchor the scene from below, their woody depth mixing with vanilla and musk to create a warm, rounded base that feels grounded rather than sharp.

The powdery accord thickens as the vanilla wraps around the oud, creating a plush, musky finish that lingers in the room. It is a scent built from iris and rose, held together by a sweet, woody foundation that feels complete in this single moment.
