Our take

Antique opens with a bright mix of bergamot and lavender, joined by coriander, galbanum, ginger, and cloves. The spices give the citrus a dry edge, while the galbanum adds a green sharpness that keeps the opening from feeling smooth. It is a crisp start that feels active and slightly herbal rather than sweet or soft.

The heart introduces osmanthus, geranium, violet, orange, orris, and rose. The orange brings a juicy lift, but the rose and violet quickly move the blend toward a powdery floral character. Orris adds a root-like dryness that grounds the flowers, while geranium keeps the aromatic thread from the top notes moving forward into the center.

The base is heavy on wood and resin. Cambodian oud, sandalwood, cedar, guaiac wood, and patchouli create a dense, earthy foundation. Brown sugar, vanilla, amber, and musk soften that structure with sweetness and warmth. The sugar and vanilla are noticeable, but the woods prevent the base from becoming a simple gourmand.

Composed by Christian Provenzano, Antique carries a strong powdery floral presence that may feel dated to those who prefer modern, transparent compositions. The abundance of rose and violet in the heart leans heavily into that vintage direction, and the brown sugar in the base can read as slightly synthetic against the natural wood.
