Our take

Raspberry is an odd note to find at the top of a leather fragrance, but La Yuqawam Homme opens on exactly that pairing, sweet berry laid straight over saffron and thyme. Rasasi built the fragrance to surprise anyone expecting a straightforward oriental, and the herbal thyme cuts the raspberry's sweetness, keeping it out of fruit-candy territory. Olibanum and artemisia move the fragrance into stranger ground through the heart, incense-like resin meeting a bitter, medicinal herb, while jasmine adds a single floral thread that keeps things just short of entirely dark. This stretch smells like a censer swinging nearby, smoky and a little bitter under the fading raspberry sweetness.

Leather and suede define the drydown, and this late stage becomes the fragrance's true home, outweighing everything before it on skin. The leather comes across dry and slightly smoky, rougher than any polished leather goods, suede softening it enough to stay wearable, and woody notes with amber add real depth and warmth. That base holds on with genuine tenacity, still perceptible on clothing long after the top notes have gone, and the sillage announces itself, easily noticed by people nearby before you have said anything.

Winter is its season, worn after dark, when the leather and smoke have room to dominate without competing against anything lighter on the skin around it.
