Our take

Zabad opens with a bristling mix of civet and saffron that feels immediate and unpolished. The orange here is bright but quickly overtaken by rose and geranium, which push the start toward something floral and slightly medicinal. Jasmine and immortelle arrive with a raspberry note that leans more candied than fresh, sitting heavily against the orange cassia tree. The woods build fast. Cedar and sandalwood give the center a creamy, rounded texture, while cypriol and dry wood pull it toward a drier, more austere place. Musk spreads across the surface and turns the floral heart into a soft, powdery haze.

The animalic edge never fully settles, and that is what gives Zabad its character in a dimly lit room where warmer scents feel expected. It suits someone who enjoys a fragrance that feels both ornate and a little rough at the edges, and who does not mind a scent that makes its presence known through its texture rather than its refinement. The sweetness from the raspberry and the orange can feel slightly synthetic against the natural woods, and the powdery finish sometimes blurs the sharper details in the base. The composition is dense and committed, but it lacks a clear sense of balance, leaving the sweeter notes to compete awkwardly with the heavier woods instead of supporting them.
