Our take

It opens with a surprise: Bourbon Vanilla, not as a supporting player but as the main act, thick and boozy, with a slight burnt edge that keeps it from being cloying. The Siam Benzoin arrives quickly, smoothing the vanilla into something more resinous and ambered, a warm balsamic haze that feels like the air inside a cedar chest left open overnight. The base of Agarwood is present from the start but takes its time to assert itself, a dry, slightly medicinal oud that cuts through the sweetness and gives the whole composition a dusty, wooden spine. The overall effect is that of a velvet-draped nightstand in a mahogany-paneled study, where a half-spilled bottle of dark rum has soaked into a pile of old letters.

This is a heavy, unapologetically warm scent, leaning more synthetic than natural in its construction but clever enough to feel coherent rather than cheap. It does not chase freshness or versatility. The longevity is decent at around six hours, the sillage a comfortable arm’s length, neither shy nor aggressive. It is a winter and autumn night fragrance through and through, perfect for a formal dinner or a dark lounge when you want to smell like you are wrapped in something costly and slightly melancholic. Who should skip it? Anyone who dislikes sweet oud or reaches for aquatic citruses in cold weather. This is for the man who understands that vanilla and wood can be a pair of leather gloves, not a dessert. A little more complexity in the mid would not hurt, but for the price, it delivers a mood you can wear like a second coat.
