The workshop door stays cracked, letting a cool draft brush against the wooden table. Crushed mastic resin sits beside a bundle of artemisia, their sharp, green edges softened by the faint citrus lift of elemi. The air feels brisk and resinous, like fresh sap on a breeze.
A fig rests on the workbench, its leaf still attached. The fruit smells ripe and milky, while the leaf adds a damp, stemmy bitterness that keeps the sweetness grounded. It is a lush pairing, the fruit and foliage leaning into each other without becoming heavy.
Lavender moves in slowly, its clean, floral herbaceousness wrapping around the fig. Sandalwood follows with a smooth, balsamic creaminess that settles into the resinous opening.
