Our take

Button Flower opens with mandarin orange, cardamom, and bergamot. The citrus is bright and immediate, while the cardamom adds a dry, slightly spicy edge that keeps the start from feeling like a standard fruity splash. The heart moves into African orange flower, jasmine, ylang-ylang, and rose. These white and yellow florals sit close together, with the ylang-ylang lending a soft, rounded quality and the rose giving a clean, slightly powdery lift. The composition stays floral throughout, never turning sharp or soapy, and the citrus from the opening lingers just long enough to keep the flowers from feeling heavy.

The base brings oakmoss, vanilla, patchouli, amber, and woody notes. The oakmoss and patchouli introduce an earthy, mossy character that anchors the sweetness of the vanilla and amber. This dry, green earthiness is what gives the fragrance its chypre structure, and it works best when the air is cool and the light is natural. The blend feels suited to daytime wear in colder weather, where the warmth of the base can develop without the citrus becoming thin. The one limitation is that the vanilla and amber can read a bit synthetic, which slightly dulls the natural impression the florals and moss create.
