Our take

Trimerous opens with a brisk, slightly herbal slap of juniper and pink pepper, the kind of greeting that feels like walking into a cold greenhouse at dawn. The nectarine is there but not juicy, more like the memory of stone fruit pressed into chamois leather. Carrot seed and orris root twist together into a powdery, almost earthy iris that sits at the heart like a dusty velvet pouch. As it develops, the thyme and angelica push through, green and aromatic, while the suede and ambergris begin to warm the edges. The dry down is where the incense and styrax take over, softened by a whisper of vanilla and a very restrained oud that never turns medicinal. This is not a loud fragrance: the sillage sits close as a secret, and longevity taps out after four or five hours, which is disappointing given the complexity at work.

The overall character is like a botanical specimen pressed between the pages of an old leather journal, brittle and scholarly, with just a hint of sweetness from the amber accord. It feels naturalistic and niche, more cerebral than sensual. This is for the person who appreciates quiet, textural scents: think tweed, afternoon rain, a minimalist apartment with dried flowers. Skip it if you crave projection or a syrupy gourmand. Best worn in spring or fall, during the daytime when the air is crisp enough to let those herbal and rooty notes breathe. A beautiful but fleeting study in restraint, and I wish it lasted longer.
