Character
A low table holds small glasses and a silver tray. The room is dim, lit only by the warm glow of a few candles. Cherry rises first, dark and ripe, more fruit than candy. It gives the air an immediate color, a deep red that pulls the eye toward the open door and the night beyond it.
Rose and jasmine sambac unfold slowly near the skin. The jasmine carries a heavy, creamy weight that settles into the folds of a silk sleeve. Rose stands beside it without sharp edges, letting the white flowers lead while the air grows thicker and the conversation at the table quiets.
Oud and frankincense anchor the space. Their smoke curls upward and blends with the benzoin and vanilla that follow. Tonka bean adds a soft roundness, and sandalwood smooths the edges until the blend feels like a single, steady warmth that belongs entirely to this room and no other.
The air smells of resin and flower and fruit, gathered around a single lit stick of frankincense that releases a thin, steady spiral of gray smoke into the dark corner of the ceiling.
