Our take

Oudy opens with a brazen puff of costus root, that dusty, almost sweaty rootiness that feels like the inside of an antique chest, quickly smoothed over by a clean puff of white musk. The heart is where the name earns its keep: a dry, medicinal agarwood that doesn't wallow in barnyard funk, but instead gets tangled with sweet, honeyed tobacco and a faint neroli that flickers like a candle in a darkened room. This is not the sticky, fermented oud of a Gulf souk; it's a more polite, powdered version, with broom in the base lending a dry, hay-like greenness that keeps things from turning cloying.

The overall character reminds me of a worn leather journal stuffed with dried orange blossoms and a few fallen leaves, sitting on a shelf in a well-heated library. It's sweet in a dusty, resinous way, leaning slightly synthetic in the opening but settling into something that feels approachably mainstream, if a little flat. The longevity is the real letdown, barely cresting three hours on skin, which is a shame because the dry down is genuinely pleasant. And a moderate sillage that stays close means you're mostly wearing this for yourself.

It suits someone who wants a gentle introduction to oud without the animalic chaos, or who needs a work-safe oriental for crisp autumn afternoons and brisk winter commutes. Skip it if you crave depth that lasts past lunch or if you insist on a smoky, leathery oud that wrestles you for attention. Wear it to the office, a daytime coffee date, or any setting where you want a soft, woody scent bubble that doesn't announce itself too loudly. It's a decent option for the price, but don't expect it to carry you through an evening.
