Our take

Rayon Vert opens with a sharp green slap of basil and anise, a kitchen garden distilled into something almost medicinal. The cassis adds a tart, dark berry edge that cuts through the fennel and caraway in the heart, making the whole thing feel like a slightly bitter, aromatic herbal tea brewed too strong and left to cool. Angelica and chamomile soften the blow, but the anise remains in the driver’s seat, weaving through a vague, musky base of immortelle and cedar. The overall character is like a crisp white linen shirt left to dry on a fennel stalk under a hazy summer sky: clean, grassy, with a faintly sweet edge that never quite surrenders to cloy.

It is unmistakably niche in its angular greenness, though the construction feels slightly undercooked. The longevity and sillage are criminally low (2.66 and 2.04 out of 5 respectively), which is the real weakness. This fragrance evaporates off skin faster than a good idea at a crowded dinner party. You will get a lovely herbal waft for an hour, maybe two, and then it is a ghost.

This is for someone who wants to smell like an immaculately weeded garden bed on a June morning, not a night out. Suits spring and summer days, ideally when you are sitting still in the sun and don’t mind reapplying. Skip it if you crave projection or staying power. Why does a perfume this beautiful have to be so fleeting?
