Our take

The door swings open and cold air rushes in, carrying the sharp bite of juniper and cardamom. Inside, a room is lit only by a low fire and the heavy curl of burning incense. The smoke does not rise straight up. It settles into the wool of a coat and the cuffs of a shirt, mixing with the resinous weight of labdanum. Jasmine sits quietly in the background, soft and white against the darker materials. Orris adds a powdery root smell that feels dry and cool.

Vetiver grounds the floor of the room. It smells of damp earth and crushed roots, a clean contrast to the rich amber that glows in the base. The amber is not sugary. It is deep and balsamic, warming the air near the skin without overwhelming the space. Spices linger in the air, fresh and aromatic, while the smoky accord wraps around the white floral notes and pulls them down into the wood.

This is a fragrance built from heavy materials. The iris gives it a refined texture, while the juniper keeps the opening bright and piercing. It feels masculine in its structure, relying on resin and smoke rather than sweetness. The transition from the sharp top notes to the earthy foundation happens smoothly, with each element staying distinct. The jasmine never dominates, acting only as a bridge between the spice and the resin.

The fire crackles and the amber continues to warm the air near the sleeve, mixing with the vetiver and the last trace of incense that refuses to leave the fabric
