Our take

S by Shakira Aquamarine hits the water like a sugar-sweet punch of passionfruit and tangerine, fizzy with ozonic notes and a bergamot sting. It opens bright and almost hyperreal, a synthetic tropical cocktail that feels less like a beach and more like a bottle of scented sunscreen from a resort gift shop. The frangipani and tiare flower wade in quickly, softening the citrus into a creamy white floral haze, but the whole thing is so transparent you can see right through it. The woody base of cedar and amber barely registers, a faint skeleton bracing this fleeting aquatic bloom.

This is a perfume that behaves like a seashell washed up at noon, lovely for a moment, then dry and forgotten by the time you turn around. With a longevity barely past the three-hour mark and sillage that stays close enough to hug, it never demands attention. That is not necessarily a flaw if you want something light and undemanding for a hot summer afternoon, a spritz that evaporates before you have to commit to it. The sweetness is there, but it is a clean, synthetic sweetness, nothing syrupy or heavy.

Who should wear it? The woman who wants to smell like a poolside vacation without announcing herself from across the room. Who should skip it? Anyone expecting lasting impressions, complexity, or a whisper of intimacy after dusk. This is a midday scent, a daytime skip across the water, best worn in the heat when everything else feels too heavy. It does exactly what it promises, no more, no less, and that is a rare, if modest, achievement.
