Our take

You stand on the damp wooden planks of a ship's deck as a cool ocean breeze rolls in. The air carries a distinct salty spray that mingles with the rough, earthy scent of patchouli and the deep, resinous weight of Spanish labdanum. It is a rugged atmosphere where the aromatic freshness of the sea meets the dark, amber warmth of a hidden cargo hold. The frankincense adds a faint, spiritual haze to the air, while caraway offers a subtle, spicy twist that feels unexpected against the dominant marine backdrop.

Moss clings to the ropes nearby, contributing a green, damp texture to the environment. This is not a clean, soapy aquatic scent. It feels raw and textured, like wet earth mixed with cold water. The woody facets ground the composition, preventing the salt from feeling too sharp or thin. You can almost see the droplets of brine settling on a heavy wool coat, the fabric absorbing the aromatic moisture and holding onto the scent of the open water and ancient resins.

The fog begins to thicken around the mast, blurring the horizon as the labdanum and moss seem to grow heavier in the cooling air. A gust of wind brings another wave of salt crashing over the side, soaking the timber and releasing more of that deep, patchouli-rich scent into the mist. The frankincense curls upward, mixing with the spray, and the entire scene becomes a dense, aromatic fog that wraps around the senses, pulling the deck further into the grey, salty unknown.
