Fragrance notes
A corner bakery just before the morning rush, the air thick with the scent of candied peel and warm sugar. Someone peels a fresh tangerine over a bowl of dark cherries, the bright citrus oils hitting the air first, sharp and loud against the quiet of the room. Orange follows, rounder and softer, blending into the fruit before a spoonful of ground cinnamon is shaken over a batch of custard. The spice sits lightly at first, then deepens as a single ylang-ylang bloom rests on the counter, its heavy yellow petals releasing a floral weight that pulls the brightness downward. The kitchen feels smaller with every breath, the air turning syrupy and close, the way heat changes a space without moving a single thing in it.
Madagascar vanilla drifts in from a jar left open near the oven, its creamy depth wrapping around the cinnamon and the cherry until the two are inseparable. Benzoin adds a resinous, amber-like stickiness that makes the air feel textured, as though the scent has settled into the wood of the shelves and the cloth of the apron hanging by the door.
